The Behavior and Level of Engagement of Grade 6 Pupils During Follow-Up Sessions in Online Platforms

Abstract
The corona-virus pandemic has had a profound impact on teaching. As a result of the crisis, instructors world-wide had to quickly adapt and shift to remote teaching. Thus, learners across the globe also responded to the changes brought about by this pandemic. This research determined the extent of behaviors and level of engagement of Grade 6 pupils during follow-up sessions in through Online Platforms. Moreover, it also found out which type of instructional materials can be developed based on the result of survey. The study used descriptive method. A self-made questionnaire was used to gather the data. Statistical treatment was used to validate the data obtained from the questionnaires. A total of (30) thirty students from Grade 6 took part in the study. Weighted mean and percentage were used to treat the data. The study revealed that the behavior of students were being guided by an imposed powerful preventive practice by the teacher which is establishing clear behavior expectations and rules that systematically teach and encourage children to follow them. It attained the verbal description of “Agree” with weighted mean of 3.29. In terms of level of engagement, a mean of 3.05 which got an “Agree”. Furthermore, it was recommended that teachers and parents may refer to the developed output in this study to guide them effectively in communication to the learners during follow-up sessions.
