Online Learning Capabilities of Grade 9 Students in First Aid in Sport Settings

Abstract

The major purpose of this study was to determine the level of online learning capabilities of the Grade 9 students in First Aid in Sport Settings at the selected private school in Lucena, Quezon. This study provides a lesson plan as an output that serves as a guide for teachers to develop activities in lesson planning that are appropriate to the level of capabilities of the students. This study used a descriptive survey research design where quantitative data were collected through google forms as research instrument. The researcher used a random sampling technique to gather data with a total of 50 respondents. As quantitative, the researcher used frequency, percentage, and Weighted mean as statistical treatment to analyze and interpret the data. The researcher found out that based on the findings; majority of the respondents are females with a percentage of 70% and 58% of age range at 15-17 years old. In terms of the perception of the students in online learning about first aid in sport, the Grade 9 students response registered a general weighted mean of 2.28 with the descriptive rating of Agree. This entails that the Grade 9 students are agree that learning online about first aid in sport is not as effective as face-to-face classes. However, they are also agreed that learning still takes place in an online classroom with a negative and positive effects. Based on the level of online learning capabilities of the students in first aid in sport, the respondents are found to be competent with an average weighted mean of 2.72. The researcher recommends teachers to create or include more activities or opportunities for the students to demonstrate skills in First Aid in an Online Setting like video demonstration, video lecture with detailed explanation of it. Trainings for teachers on how to maximize the use of technology in teaching performance-based courses like Physical Education are also recommended. Moreover, to develop teacher-student relationship, the researcher also recommends having an online kamustahan for the students since it was found that the least statement in ranking is about the communication between student-teacher relationship.
