A Design of Pico-Hydroelectric Power Generating Unit Located in Brgy. Silangang Mayao Lucena City

Abstract
This study was conducted in order to develop an electric generating unit with the use
of renewable energy source. The objective of this study is deals with the design of a Pico
hydroelectric Power Generating Unit that harnesses water power from Brgy. Silangang
Mayao Irrigation Site. Centrifugal pump has been carried out to its characteristics in pump
and turbine mode operation. This study details the design process of a 2 kW pico-hydro
system for Brgy. Silangang Mayao. The final design parameters for the complete system are
then determined, and presented along with a cost benefit analysis. In designing a pico
hydroelectric power generating unit, sites and sources of water was the most important thing
to be considered, the water power will be the basis of the design, fabrication and appropriate
materials that will be used. Centrifugal Pump impeller is very important due to its efficiency
and suitability.
