A Prototype Design of Rotary Lifting and Control Mechanism for Car Parking
Area of Research
Abstract
The prototype of a rotary lifting and control mechanism for car parking was
designed to reduce excess use of land space. Aimed at developing a scaled down working
model, this research and development project produced useful materials, devices and
new systems meeting specific requirements on its properties of materials and its costing.
The chain and sprocket mechanism were used for driving the parking platform. The
prototype was powered by a geared motor. When the car comes on the ramp the switch
will be activated and the platform came in to carry the car. When the switch was operated
by the operator, sprockets starts to rotate and the new space will be adjusted for new car.
The control system played a major role in organizing the entry to and exit from the
parking lots. In metropolitan cities, car parking has become a major concern in all busy
areas and a good traffic system needs a good parking system. The researchers took this
opportunity to bring the technology of rotary car parking system to where it is needed to
reduce the shortage of area for parking.
