INVESTIGATING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SCHOOL-BASED FEEDING PROGRAM IN SELECTED SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN THE DIVISION OF QUEZON
Area of Research
Abstract
This research investigated the implementation of School-Based Feeding Program in the thirty-one (31) public elementary schools in a municipality in terms of priority target beneficiaries, nutritional assessment of beneficiaries, partnership/ sponsorship, commodities and food preparation, feeding proper, monitoring and evaluation, and submission of reports. The instrument used in the study is a validated checklist questionnaire based of the guidelines listed in DepEd Order no. 54 s. 2013.
Results revealed that the SBFP is very highly implemented in the schools identified for the study. Complementary activities for effectiveness and sustainability of the school-based feeding program were observed by schools. Progress in the beneficiaries’ nutritional status after the feeding program is observed. However, due to two-month vacation, come June their nutritional status goes back to being ‘wasted’ due to lack of proper nutritious meals at home during school vacation. Moreover, partnership with the community and other stakeholders needs to be improved.
