DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF STRATEGIC INTERVENTION MATERIALS FOR PHONEMIC AWARENESS OF KINDERGARTEN AND FIRST GRADE PUPILS

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to develop and validate Strategic Intervention Materials for phonemic awareness of kindergarten and first-grade pupils in Burdeos District under the K to 12 Curriculum. It also aimed to reach the standard given by the Department of Education that Every Child a Reader Program ECARP (DO 18, s. 2017). Research and development method was used in the study. The researcher computed the number of samples who participated in the research wherein, the kindergarten and first-grade pupils acted as a population. The researcher conducted a diagnostic test to rank and determine the least-learned phonemic skills of kindergarten and first-grade pupils. Then the researcher identified the skills needed in Strategic Intervention Materials and developed SIMs. Using a validation instrument for kindergarten and first-grade teachers, teachers validated the relevance of SIMs. The data was consolidated and computed using a weighted mean. The result of the validation of SIMs were all Very much evident.
