Results describe the five overarching themes and sub-themes surfaced from the study. These are (1) Affective Barriers, with sub-themes of Anxiousness, Feeling of Isolation, Fear of Experiencing the Same Scenario, and Feeling of Frustration and Shock, (2) Difficulties and Challenges, with sub-themes of Burnout: Emotional and Mental, Burnout: Physical, Feelings of Giving Up, Financial Stress, and Lack of Time, (3) Role Acceptance, with sub-themes of Patience and Understanding, Caregiver’s Perseverance, and Dedication and Commitment, (4) Strength and Comfort, with sub-themes of Love for Work and Service, Considering the Elderly as Family, Enjoyment, and Appreciation, Feeling Motivated because of Family, and Coping through Faith, (5) Creating Memories, with two sub-themes: Learning through Experience and Attachment to their Patient. Caregivers caring for the elderly experience varied feelings, ranging from frustration, exhaustion, and stress, but are balanced strengthening factors such as patience, perseverance, and commitment to their roles as carers. Caregivers also find joy and meaning in their service-based profession and feel appreciated and loved while creating cherished memories with their elderly patients.
