Completed2017

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the influence of campus values on MSEUF maritime students' college experiences and cognitive development. The descriptive research was conducted in Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation College of Maritime Education in Lucena City. A total of 200 student-respondents answered the survey questionnaire. Results revealed that the most commonly practiced campus values in the University are regularly attending classes every day, understanding what is being said during instruction, and always asking professors, permission upon entering and leaving the room. The results also revealed that in terms of the influence of campus values, students were able to delineate between what is right and wrong as an important element in life, to appreciate that values help in improving behavior, to instill respect and enhance relationship with others, and to create the future they want to experience. This implies that the influence of campus values on MSEUF maritime students' college experiences and individual cognitive development is effective in that it can affect the formation and development of an individual and make it easier for them to reach their goals and equip themselves with the proper values. It is recommended that the MSEUF develop programs that will promote positive campus values such as leadership training, team building and service oriented activities that can help full individual development.
