Awareness of Engine Crews in Safety Precautions, Standards and Practice on Safety Drills in Engine Rooms of Passenger Ships in Dalahican Port

Abstract
This study investigated the level of awareness of engine crews in safety precautions and practices and the level of practice on safety drills in engine rooms of passenger ships in Dalahican Port, Lucena City. The data gathering was done in Dalahican Port, Lucena City where 28 actively serving engine crews in Dalahican Port were surveyed. Results revealed that the respondents of the study are highly aware of and recognize different signage of safety precautions and repair all pipe and pump leakage as soon as possible. However, the engine crew must improve their maintenance schedule on auxiliary machineries and maintain good housekeeping in the engine room. They must execute and comply strictly with the manual of safety practices in their respective ships.
