EXTENT OF PREPAREDNESS DURING EMERGENCY SITUATION ON BOARD AT DALAHICAN PORT

Abstract
This study aimed to determine the extent of preparedness during emergency situation on board at the Dalahican Port. The gathering of data was conducted in Lucena City. This study was limited to the perceptions of twenty-five (30) licensed seafarers. Results revealed that the findings in the emergency situation experienced by seafarers onboard as shown in the records and in the data gathered that it was more efficient for the newly graduate seafarers to cope with the maritime world. Although it was not as great as other research, this served as their compass through the destination of their hoping success. Meanwhile, the seafarers should have the proper knowledge in the emergency situation that they might experience onboard; it involves the basic wearing of protective gears at all working times, maintaining a good health and enough rest for the daily job, psychological help for the crew that is suffering from low morale or loneliness onboard.
