Classroom Management Practices Based on Philippines Professional Standard for Teachers
Area of Research
Abstract
This study focused on the classroom management practices based on
Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers or PPST in the district of Jomalig
during the school year 2019-2020. The respondents of the study were the 50
teachers, 2 teachers-in-charge, 2 school heads, and 1 one master teacher of
Jomalig District. Using quantitative descriptive research design, a survey
questionnaire was the main data gathering instrument. The data were properly
consolidated, treated, and analyzed using frequency, percentage, weighted mean, ttest and ANOVA as statistical tools.
Findings of the study revealed that the teachers always practice classroom
management based on Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST) in
terms of learning environment, promotion of purposive learning, and diversity of
learners. Generally, the respondents encountered challenges in terms of learning
environment while they do not much have challenge in purposive learning and least
challenge in the diversity of learning. The study further revealed that there was a significant difference on their classroom management practices when they grouped
as to the demographic profile, while they only differed in terms of sex and
educational attainment when they were asked about the challenges encountered.
The results of this study served as basis for designing an action plan for effective
classroom management style.
