Abstract

For the past few years, disasters have been remarkable for every Filipinos. One of the most common disasters is typhoon which is known to come in a second and left the victims weeping for their lives. Disasters tend to take lives as well as properties that every victim has. Because of these facts, the researchers believed that disaster preparedness is something that should be taken seriously for the benefit of everyone which leads them to conduct and pursue this study. This particular study aimed to assess the level of preparedness of the community in responding to disasters. Researchers also aimed to help the LGUs in the simplest way that they can through this study. The researchers limited the research gaps into three problems to avoid misleading. One of the research gaps is the lack of knowledge about the possible disasters that might occur. Another is the inadequate training for the community particularly in responding to disaster. Lastly, the lack of information dissemination in the community about the possible effects of the disasters. The researchers chose a total of 100 respondents from their selected barangays to gather necessary and accurate information that supported the study. The researchers used descriptive method of research through questionnaires which were personally distributed and explained to the respondents. Based on the interpreted results, the researchers have concluded that the community had enough preparation in responding to disasters. With that, it is recommended to continue and develop preparations that will cope with their needs depending on the situation.
