STUDY ON PERCEPTION OF THE CRIMINOLOGY STUDENTS IN THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE TEACHING-LEARNING STRATEGY IN THE CRIMINOLOGY DEPARTMENT

Abstract

This study focused on analyzing the perception of the criminology students in the effectiveness of the teaching-learning strategies in the criminology department. It employed the descriptive research design wherein the survey method was used. The questionnaire was utilized as a primary tool to gather the necessary data. It was personally distributed to the criminology students. The contents of the questionnaire as well as the purpose of the study were explained to the respondents. The study was conducted in one university in Lucena City. There were a total of 100 respondents who were randomly selected to provide valid, unbiased and reliable information needed in this study. Majority of the respondents were 4 th -year criminology students. Use of handouts is the most common teaching style in the CCLE faculty because distributing handouts like books and modules help the students to advance study on their lesson. Most of the students’ problem in the teaching method of CCLE faculty is being rushed in the discussion, leaving them confused on the topics of the subject. All facilities should provide development such as annual or frequent maintenance over their equipment within their facilities to improve functionality and adequacy for the proper learning of the students. In the evaluation of the effectiveness of the teaching methods in the criminology department as perceived by the students use of hand-outs can provide advance knowledge to the students. Using this teaching method is accurate and helpful in every student. This study proposed a criminology academic clinic that will the criminology students on their study as well as the professors of the criminology department to assist them by helping the students to understand more their lesson.
