SOCIAL MEDIA AS USED IN COMMITTING CYBERCRIME

This study aimed to determine how to prevent and control the wide range spread of cybercrime, especially on highly-used social media, and others when it has earned the trust of many people. While on the other side, people did not know that they have shared information that they are not aware that it was beyond their privacy. This study also focused on bringing awareness to the forms and types of cybercrimes for the people to not become exploited and victimized. In this perspective, the researchers utilized the descriptive survey method of research and distributed 4 sets of questionnaires for the selected respondents in Lucena City randomly to gather and accumulate pertinent data. The longer the use of the internet, the higher the risk of being exposed to cybercrimes. The researchers conclude that the respondents are fully aware of the different types of cyber crimes and recommend that the social media users should limit their time using the Internet considering that it could increase the potential risk and become harmful and dangerous the longer you use social media.
