Area of Research
Abstract
Media is widespread in today’s world. Most of the people are more likely
to use media in acquiring information about what is happening in the society. This is
their primary source of information. Media is powerful because it influences people
in the way they think and act. This study was focused on determining the influence
of mass media in the image of the Philippine National Police (PNP) that was
perceived by the community. This study aimed to know the perception of the
community in the image of PNP; to determine the level of influence of the mass
media and to determine the programs of PNP that enhance their image. This study
used a descriptive type of research, wherein the researchers utilized the
questionnaire to the selected groups of the community such as white collar workers,
blue collar workers and students in the community. Results show that mass media
has a high level of influence over the PNP and such presentation of themselves in the interview helped them to gain a positive image. The researchers recommend
that PNP need to provide more programs on community relations in cooperation in
any kind of mass media and they need to maintain presenting themselves in a
proper and respectable manner so that public trust and the positive image will be
gained in the PNP organization.
