REHABILITATION PROGRAM: ITS IMPLICATION TO THE REFORMATION OF INMATES

Abstract
The purpose of the study was to find out the implication of the rehabilitation
program in the reformation of inmates. Specifically, the study sought to answer the
following such as the demographic profile of the inmates in terms of age, civil status,
educational attainment and crime committed, programs provided for the inmates and
effects of the rehabilitation program in terms of vocational, religious and social
aspect. This study also aimed to determine some causes why inmates return to the
jail even they have a rehabilitation program. The researchers utilized a descriptive
method of research to analyze the implication of the rehabilitation program in the
reformation of inmates. This method involves the use self-constructed questionnaire,
gathering or collection of data, tallying of the responses of the respondents, analysis
and interpretation of the gathered data through the application of statistical analysis
and procedure. Results showthat most of the research respondents are 31-35 years old, single and
high school graduate. Most of the respondents are involved in drug abuse. All
respondents are undergoing rehabilitation program such as vocational program,
socializing, religious service, tailoring, education programs, arts/crafts. According to
the respondents' response they strongly agree that rehabilitation program has an
implication to their reformation. It plays a very vital role in changing their attitude and
disposition in life.
