IMPACT OF CITY ORDINANCES IN THE PREVENTION OF CRIMES IN THE COMMUNITY

A city ordinance is a type of authoritative law, rule, or regulation made by a state, province, or national government. It is intended to address issues of local concern, and typically applies to people subject to the city’s jurisdiction. Due to the growing number of crime in the community, the city ordinances are created by the city council to lessen crime in our community. City ordinances are created to prevent crime in our community and to maintain peace and order. The purpose of the study was to determine the demographic profile of the respondents, identify the implemented city ordinances, and determine the effects of ordinances in the chosen research locale. Lastly is the evaluation of the level of the effectiveness of city ordinances as perceived by the community. The researchers used a descriptive type of research to be able to analyze and interpret all the results of the data gathering. In gathering of data and information, the researchers distributed a survey questionnaire to the members of community in Lucena City. The researchers utilized simple random technique in selecting the respondents. In determining the effectiveness of city ordinances in Lucena City. There were 100 community members in the said city who were considered as the respondents of the study. The results revealed that the implemented city ordinance that mostly prevent crimes is the curfew on minors because this ordinance really helped in preventing crimes and maintaining peace and safety for every member of the community. City ordinances have a better effect to the community and also to the community members to be a responsible individual.
