Completed2018

Abstract

The study is focused on analyzing the level of preparedness of community in fire prevention activities as perceived by the community that analyzed if they are aware and prepared in fire incidents that are possible to happen. It employed the descriptive research design wherein the survey and case studies were used. The study was conducted in Lucena City and Tayabas City. There was a total of two hundred (200) female respondents, one hundred (100) respondents from each city, which are all housewives who were always in their homes. A self-constructed questionnaire was utilized to determine the awareness and to evaluate the level of preparedness of the community by means of fire prevention activity Results revealed that the housewives are aware of the fire prevention seminars and fire safety drills compared to a lot of fire prevention activity presented. They are aware and prepared in the terms of using fire prevention activities for them to be able to determine how to survive and prevent fire incidents to happen. With these findings, it is recommended that the techniques in preventing fire must not be demonstrated only during the observance of Fire Prevention Month but instead be used as a stepping stone and a spring that propels them into a higher level of excellence. There is no absolute guarantee that a fire will never happen in their homes. That is why it pays to be prepared and take steps to reduce the risk of a fire scene. The community should follow the three “P’s” namely prevent, plan, and practice to make them sure that their homes have a fire escape plan and they have practiced it. The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Lucena City and Tayabas City Central Fire station should maintain their personnel and fire volunteers to continue fire safety awareness campaign to provide quality service to the public.
