Level of awareness and the extent of performance in Breast Self Examination (BSE) among select group of women

Abstract
The study was conducted to assess the level of awareness and extent of performance in doing Breast Self Breast Examination (BSE) among a select group of women in Lucena City. Utilizing a random sampling method, data were collected from a fifty (50) female participants in one of the community in Lucena City belonging to 15 to 45 age group. Study results revealed that majority are aware of the importance of the breast self examination as a means of early detection of breast cancer, however, determining the extent of performance of doing it revealed that they seldom performed it. Determining the significant relationship between the level of awareness and extent of performance revealed that there is a significant relationship however, when grouped according to the participant’s demographic profile, it revealed no significance .
