WILDLIFE ENCOUNTERS IN ZOOBIC SAFARI: VISITOR REACTIONS AND PERCEPTIONS
Area of Research
Abstract
Zoos have been proved to be sites consistently capable of attracting large
numbers of visitors. Oduro et al. (2001) for example, found that Accra Zoo was
able to sustain high visitation rates from1987 to 1997, and that no visitors felt that
their experience was a waste of time. They also found that children accounted for
a very large proportion of visitors, and indeed Turley (2001) argues that children
are an important determinant in the decision to visit a zoo.
This study aimed to determine the satisfaction of the tourists who had
already visited Zoobic Safari in Zambales.
Specifically is attempted to answer the following questions:
1. What are the factors that urge the tourist to make them want to see or
encounter wildlife?
2. What are the expectations of the tourists before encountering wildlife? 3. What are the realizations of the tourists as they are watching or
interacting with wildlife?
The research will be conducted on some selected areas in Quezon
Province who already visited the Zoobic Safari. Most of them are studying in
Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation but not all of them are from Lucena
City using 40 respondents most of them are studying in Manuel S. Enverga, the
age rages to 13-65 years old from the different part of Quezon Province. Most of
their respondents are students and some of them are the tourist?s parents or
grandparents. The researchers will use a survey type questionnaire for them to
gather data.
With this research, the researchers will somehow help Zoobic Safari on
how they will improve their service and facilities based on the result of this study.
