myMDLab: A MOBILE PLATFORM FOR BOOKING MEDICAL LABORATORY HOME SERVICES

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop a mobile platform that allows patients to book home service medical laboratory test at the comfort of their home and even at their workplace anytime. This study desired to prevent the patients from suffering inconveniences such as accessibility issues, long queues in line, and difficulty in going back and forth to get their test results. The objective of the system was to define different requirements needed in the development from patients and various laboratories in Lucena City through interviews, document review, and research. This study used the Prototyping methodology and tools for developing the system such as Android Studio, Firebase, Laravel Framework, and Bootstrap. The application was tested into four kinds of android versions such as Lollipop, Marshmallows, Nougat, and Oreo. The application failed to install on android version starting from Marshmallow below after numerous trials while in Nougat and Oreo version, there were no issues and problems encountered during installation. The application run smoothly without any noticeable delays. The system was evaluated by 24 respondents in which, 19 patients were composed of regular patients, senior citizens, pregnant women, persons with disabilities, and five medical laboratory staffs from the three laboratories in Lucena City such as LC Diagnostic Center, Quezon MMG Medical Center, and LUDACS (Lucena United Doctors Ambulatory Care and Services). Based on the software evaluation, the application acquired an overall “Agree” remark with a mean of 4.17.
