BBMS: DEVELOPMENT OF A BLOOD BANK MANAGEMENT SYSTEM WITH DESCRIPTIVE ANALYSIS FOR PHILIPPINE RED CROSS QUEZON-LUCENA CHAPTER

Completed2018

Abstract

Blood Bank Management System for Philippine Red Cross Quezon-Lucena Chapter is a web-based application that helps to manage the archives of donors and patients at a blood bank. At the same time, it allowed the community to see the available stock of blood online and request for the available blood in their bloodstock. The system supported the automated donor management system and the bloodstock in a blood bank that improved the record management effectiveness due to the big data. The researchers used Agile methodology since it is the most suitable for this type of system and is more flexible than conventional techniques since it is a cycle of alterations until the client is satisfied. It also used the Apache web server for hosting the locally stored website for deployment. With the database management, the researchers used MySQL since it is the most popular Open Source SQL database management system that used Structured Query Language. The development of the system started by conducting an interview to the staff of the Philippine Red Cross Staff about what they want as features or recommendations as well as the collected data from the client. The researches analyzed the data given and found that it had a constraint when the data that are suitable for the system are confidential. The data the researchers used are now generated by using dummy data. The system was developed using the CodeIgniter framework and by using tools like MySQL to ease usage to a wide range of people, Highcharts for the data analytics, and Adobe Dreamweaver. These tools are chosen by the researches since it is the most suitable to use. The researchers developed the BBMS with all the recommendations of the client as well as the objectives. The pilot testing and demonstration of the system was conducted and the end users evaluated its overall performance using the ISO 25010 and received an “Excellent” rating of 4.47.
