DEVELOPMENT OF A MOBILE APPLICATION FOR PHYSICS SUBJECT OF GRADE 9 STUDENTS
Area of Research
Abstract
The proposed project is for the new Philippine educational system, the “K-12
program”. The application aimed to stimulate and develop the thinking skills of Grade
9 students for their studies in Physics. By developing this application, teachinglearning can be more interactive, interesting, and goal oriented. In this proposed
project, the game simulation contained four topics namely “Motion in Two
Dimensions/Projectile Motion,” “Work, Power, and Energy,” “Heat, Work, and
Efficiency”, and “Electricity and Magnetism”. Thus, the researchers came up to
develop an interactive game that can benefit the Grade 9 students to this branch of
science. In developing this mobile application, the researchers identified the required
functionalities of the proposed system to design the system based on identified
feature using UML and Unity for Animation and Adobe Photoshop CS6 as a program
for designing. The agile methodology is the most suitable for the game development
of its interactive procedure of planning and analysis, design, development and
testing, and evaluation. With the project’s results, it was concluded that the game
objectives were conceptualized using different methods and the functionalities were designed using the UML like using case diagram and conceptual framework. The
evaluation made by the Grade 9 students from CEFI using the criteria determined the
reliability, appearance, and usability of the game.
