Abstract

The research entitled “The Satisfaction of the Vendors and Consumers of the Bagong Lucena Public Market” is backed by the significance of public markets which play a vital role in our communities. This study explored the level of satisfaction of the vendor and consumer respondents of the Bagong Lucena Public Market. The descriptive evaluative research design was used to elaborate the characteristics of data and explain the information clearly. A total of 216 vendor and 375 consumer respondents were selected through stratified sampling and accidental sampling, respectively. By the structured questionnaires and personal interviews the following results were sought: The Bagong Lucena Public Market is subdivided into 18 sections based on the goods they sell. In view of the overall satisfaction of the vendor respondents they are neither satisfied nor dissatisfied with their operations in the public market with a WAM of 3.25. As for the consumer respondents, they are satisfied on how the public market caters to them with a WAM of 3.62. Using T-test as a statistical tool it resulted to no significant difference on the perception of the consumers and vendors with a P-value of 86%, which is greater than the 5% alpha. These results imply that there is a need of improvement for the management of the Bagong Lucena Public Market to better cater its vendors and consumers.
