A PROPOSED COMPUTERIZED ACCOUNTING SYSTEM FOR MCSPEED GAS STATION

Abstract

McSpeed Gas Station is a growing business concerned with the inaccuracy and inefficiency of their current practice of record keeping and information storage. The entity needs a properly generated computerized accounting system as a foundation for overall management of the business. The study aims and is limited to the development of the computerized accounting system of the entity for internal reporting purposes only and for the sole usage of the entity. The researchers conducted the study by using the action research design, together with the Rapid Application Development Model. The researchers gathered information about the entity. The researchers studied the background of the company, their organizational structure, daily transactions, and internal control policies to gain understanding of the nature and operations of the business. The researchers examined the entity’s recording, filing, and storing practices. The researchers made use of the program Microsoft Visual Studio 10 with Visual Basic as the programming language. Furthermore, the database program used by the researchers was MySQL. The initial output is the prototype of the client’s proposed accounting system. It was evaluated by the management of the entity. The final output was the proposed computerized accounting system, including the proposed organizational structure, internal control policies, standard forms, inventory and transactions processing software, and flowcharts.
