Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) recently implemented a comprehensive sustainability policy to support clean, affordable energy initiatives across its campus. Effective since 2022 and reviewed in 2023, this policy focuses on four main pillars: energy-efficient construction, carbon reduction, energy consumption reduction, and ethical investment.
MSEUF upholds energy efficiency by adhering to strict standards in all new constructions and building renovations. The University follows the Philippine Green Building Code and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) principles, ensuring that all infrastructure projects contribute to energy conservation and environmental sustainability.
On August 2023, MSEUF completed the renovation of CCMS Building, integrating energy-efficient lighting, cooling systems, and insulation technologies. The project aims to reduce overall energy consumption by 8% compared to previous energy benchmarks, aligning with the University’s long-term sustainability goals.
MSEUF demonstrates its commitment to sustainability by implementing a divestment policy focused on reducing investments in carbon-intensive industries, particularly coal and oil. As of October 2023, the University has redirected its investments toward renewable energy ventures and clean technology start-ups.
This policy reflects MSEUF’s alignment with global efforts to transition to a low-carbon economy and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) actively supports government efforts in clean energy and energy-efficient technology policy development at local, national, regional, and global levels. The university has aligned its sustainability practices with national regulations, such as the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act (RA 11285), ensuring compliance with energy-efficient standards. MSEUF also conducts regular energy audits to identify areas for improvement in its facilities, demonstrating its commitment to sustainable energy practices. Additionally, the university prepares for future energy audits by the Department of Energy (DOE) and trains personnel to become certified energy managers, contributing to the national goal of improving energy efficiency. Through these initiatives, MSEUF is helping shape a more sustainable future, in line with government policies.
