MSEUF advances pay-scale equity with transparency, fair governance, and financial readiness

Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) strengthened its commitment to SDG 8 by publishing gender pay data, conducting transparent merit-pay deliberations, and expanding employee financial literacy—three actions that work together to measure, close, and prevent gender pay gaps over time.

MSEUF publicly released its Gender Pay Gap Report, showing women represent 53% of full-time staff and that the gender pay gap is –3% (mean) and –9% (median)—negative values indicating women earned slightly more on average during the latest reporting period. The report commits to regular audits and annual disclosure, creating accountability for sustained equity.

To keep compensation decisions fair and evidence-based, the Human Resource Department held the annual merit pay deliberation for non-teaching personnel on Sept. 4, 2024. University leaders, HRD, department heads, and a union representative reviewed pre-shared performance evaluations, and HRD presented allocations based on objective ratings, reinforcing a transparent process that operates on top of the university’s equity commitments.

MSEUF also invested in long-term employee well-being through HeaRt Talk Episode 2: PERA Orientation – Understanding Personal Equity and Retirement Accounts on Dec. 13, 2024. The HR and Treasury Departments guided 134 faculty and staff through PERA enrollment, management, and withdrawals, with the VP for Finance sharing practical retirement planning advice, supporting financial security that complements equitable pay policies.

By measuring pay outcomes, governing awards transparently, and building financial capability, MSEUF demonstrates a practical, institution-wide approach to SDG 8, which calls for a policy on pay-scale equity with a commitment to measure and eliminate gender pay gaps.

Grounded in MSEUF’s values—Mindfulness, Service, Excellence, Unity, Fortitude—these measures promote dignity at work and an outcomes-oriented culture. Publishing pay-gap data, running fair deliberations, and expanding financial literacy align with the university’s learner and people centered mission to create equitable opportunities and sustained growth for the community.
