The Basic Education Guidance and Testing Office conducted Psychoeducation Program Module 2, titled “Nurturing Social Awareness and Sensitivity,” on Sept. 18 at the BED EMRC.

Guidance counselor Charmaine San Miguel facilitated the session and discussed the importance of social awareness in building healthy relationships, understanding societal issues, and developing empathy. She emphasized that social awareness enables students to interact more thoughtfully and respond to others with respect and understanding.

San Miguel guided students on practical ways to strengthen social awareness, including self-reflection, careful observation, being present in interactions, active listening, and acknowledging the perspectives of others.

Interactive activities reinforced these lessons. Through the Empathy Diary exercise, students reflected on personal experiences where they demonstrated empathy. The Social Awareness Bingo Game encouraged interaction among classmates while recognizing individual traits, strengths, and differences.

The session helped students develop a deeper understanding of empathy, conflict resolution, and mindful decision-making as part of the school’s continuing psychoeducation initiative.

The activity reflects the institution’s commitment to Mindfulness and Service by promoting empathy, respect, and positive social interaction among students. It also demonstrates Excellence and Unity as the school integrates social-emotional learning into student development programs.
