BED, OSAS hosts parents’ forum on balancing self-care, family time

Basic Education Department Guidance and Testing Office, through the Office of Student Affairs and Services of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation, hosted a Parents’ Forum, at the MSEUF Gymnasium to help families balance self-care and parenting under the theme “Time for Me. Time for We: Balancing Self-Care and Family Time," Feb. 26.

The forum opened at 9 a.m., with BED Principal Reina Pasumbal delivering the opening remarks and emphasizing the school’s commitment to supporting parents as key partners in students’ success.

Hannah Ericka Andal, a registered psychologist and registered guidance counselor, served as the guest speaker and led an interactive session that encouraged open dialogue with parents. She shared practical insights on maintaining mental health while nurturing strong family relationships.

“Self-care is not selfish. It is necessary for parents to remain emotionally present and supportive for their families,” Andal told participants.

She introduced practical self-care practices and communication strategies designed to help parents better understand their children while maintaining their own well-being.

The forum drew 736 participants, including 204 parents from the Elementary level, 334 from Junior High School and 198 from Senior High School, reflecting strong engagement from the school community.

Following the forum, organizers launched the Basic Education Department Open House, which allowed parents to explore the school’s programs, facilities and learning environment.

The event reflected the University’s core values of Mindfulness, Service and Unity by strengthening collaboration between families and the school community. It also supported holistic education by recognizing that students’ academic success depends on strong family relationships and emotional well-being.
