Besties Troop Support Club elects new officers; introduces new members
To formally introduce new members to their roles and strengthen a resilient peer-support system within the campus, The Basic Education Department Guidance and Testing Office of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation conducted the Besties Troop Support (BTS) Club Orientation and Training, June 18.
The activity recorded 36 pre-registered participants. Attendance shifted throughout the day, with 28 students joining the morning session and 43 participating in the afternoon.
Representing Basic Education Department Principal Reina Pasumbal, Andrea Nicole Saberola opened the program with welcoming remarks during the morning session. Gianne Pagana then facilitated a socialization activity and icebreaker to encourage interaction among participants.
Charmaine San Miguel led the formal orientation, introducing the club advisers and presenting the objectives of the BTS Club. Members also actively participated in the election of club officers.
The afternoon session resumed at 1 p.m. with Pagana discussing the roles and responsibilities of BTS Club members. The discussion transitioned into capability-building activities and practical training designed to prepare students for their responsibilities as peer supporters.
Guided by BEd guidance counselor Andrea Nicole Saberola, participants attended a lecture on becoming effective helpers. Students reinforced the concepts through consecutive interactive group activities that allowed them to apply what they learned in practical situations.
Rey Marco Casiño concluded the program with closing remarks, marking the end of the day's orientation and training.
The activity prepared newly inducted BTS Club members to serve as peer supporters by developing their understanding of the organization's mission, clarifying their responsibilities, and strengthening their helping skills through interactive learning experiences.
The orientation and training reflected Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation's commitment to student-centered and transformative learning by preparing students to take active roles in supporting the well-being of their peers. The initiative also demonstrated the University's core values of Mindfulness, Service, Unity, and Excellence by developing responsible student leaders who contribute to a supportive and caring campus community.
