Mental Wellness Day promotes well-being among basic education young learners

The Basic Education Department Guidance and Testing Office of the Office of Student Affairs and Services of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation organized “Mental Wellness Day” on Oct. 10 to mark the global observance of World Mental Health Day and promote well-being among K to 12 students.

The whole-day program introduced students to practical ways of caring for their mental health through meaningful and engaging activities.

Organizers partnered with the Besties Troop Support Club, whose members helped facilitate activities and encourage participation throughout the event.

The program included film screenings that encouraged reflection and discussion. Elementary students watched The Little Prince, while junior and senior high school students viewed Every Child Is Special, both of which highlighted themes of empathy, self-discovery and emotional understanding.

Students also expressed their thoughts through a Freedom Wall, which served as a safe space for sharing emotions and reflections.

Interactive games such as Jenga, Scrabble, puzzles and Rubik’s Cube promoted social interaction and cognitive development among participants from Grades 5 to 12.

Art-based activities including coloring, painting, drawing and clay molding further encouraged creativity and relaxation, with elementary students actively showcasing their artistic talents.

Organizers said the event provided students with both practical strategies and enjoyable experiences that support mental wellness while strengthening a supportive school community.

The activity reflected the University’s core values of Mindfulness, Service and Unity by encouraging self-awareness, empathy and collective care for well-being. It also supported holistic and student-centered education by integrating emotional health awareness with creative and collaborative activities.
