BED conducts psychoeducation session on interpersonal skills
To help students improve communication, relationship-building and self-awareness skills essential for academic and personal growth, the Office of Students Affairs and Services (OSAS) conducted a psychoeducation program in the Basic Education Department EMRC, Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation, Lucena City, Nov. 17.
A total of 20 students from Grades 5 to 12 attended the session, which opened with an orientation that emphasized the role of interpersonal skills in daily interactions and school life.
Facilitators guided participants through interactive activities that highlighted effective communication and teamwork. Icebreakers encouraged openness, while group tasks fostered collaboration, empathy and mutual understanding.
Students reflected on their communication and listening habits and identified areas for improvement, including active listening, clear self-expression and empathy toward others.
“Interpersonal skills shape how we connect and succeed, both inside and outside the classroom,” a facilitator shared during the discussion.
Participants completed a worksheet that prompted them to assess how they apply interpersonal skills in everyday situations. Organizers said the exercise strengthened self-awareness and reinforced the importance of positive relationships.
The session concluded with active participation and enthusiasm from students, who expressed appreciation for the opportunity to build meaningful connections in a supportive environment.
The activity reflected the University’s core values of Mindfulness, Unity and Service by nurturing respectful communication and empathy among learners. It also supported holistic and student-centered education by equipping students with life skills that contribute to both academic achievement and personal development.
