The Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) conducted a seminar aimed at third-year students to help them develop the essential qualities needed to navigate their future careers, Jul. 4.

A total of 251 students attended the session, which focused on the current demands of the job market and the personal skills needed to adapt and grow in the professional world.

The discussion centered on the shifting nature of employment brought about by rapid technological advancements and the growing emphasis on lifelong learning.

The seminar emphasized that while technical knowledge remains important, employers now also seek candidates who demonstrate emotional intelligence, creativity, adaptability, and resilience.

Rey Marco Casiño, OSAS counselor and one of the speakers, addressed the students on the importance of anticipating changes in the global labor market.

“Students must somehow learn how to see future challenges as various industries continue to shift towards internationalization, making the modern career choices more diverse,” he said.

Casiño also stressed the need for persistence and adaptability. “The traditional understanding of employment has redefined innovations, making job security and career progression more difficult than ever. It is important to stack yourselves with the tenacity to navigate the systems of your chosen vocations,” he added.

The activity forms part of OSAS’ multi-year career development program that supports Envergan students as they prepare for transition into the workforce.
