The Institute of Graduate Studies and Research Student Council of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation supported selected jeepney drivers through a community food assistance initiative under the university’s Community Extension Services program.

Led by President Ronaliza Zamoras and guided by Adviser Dr. Flormando Baldovino, the IGSR Student Council donated frozen food products for the “Bayanihan Community Pantry: Community Goods Distribution Initiative,” a program spearheaded by the Community Relations Department in collaboration with the Office of Scholarship and Endowment, Job Placement and Alumni Relations.

The outreach activity aimed to address the immediate food needs of community partners while fostering shared responsibility, compassion and collective action among university stakeholders.

The initiative benefited selected jeepney drivers who serve the university and surrounding communities. Through the donation, the MSEUF community recognized their role in supporting the daily mobility of students, employees and other members of the public, especially amid economic challenges such as rising fuel costs.

The IGSR Student Council’s participation reflected the Filipino spirit of bayanihan, which values unity, cooperation and mutual aid. By contributing food items for distribution, graduate student leaders showed how academic excellence can be paired with civic engagement and socially responsive leadership.

The activity also provided an experiential learning opportunity for graduate students to understand community needs and contribute to practical solutions. Their involvement emphasized that leadership extends beyond organizational duties and includes active participation in programs that benefit society.

The Community Relations Department coordinated the implementation of the activity, while the Office of Scholarship and Endowment, Job Placement and Alumni Relations supported logistics and resource mobilization. The collaboration highlighted the value of interdepartmental cooperation in sustaining meaningful community extension programs.

Through the Bayanihan Community Pantry initiative, MSEUF continued to strengthen its commitment to service-driven leadership and community development. The IGSR Student Council’s participation served as a reminder that small acts of generosity, when carried out collectively, can create meaningful support for vulnerable sectors.

The initiative aligned with Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation’s mission of promoting instruction, research and community service through responsive programs that support national development. It also reflected the core values of Mindfulness, Service, Unity and Fortitude by encouraging graduate students to respond to community needs with empathy, cooperation and social responsibility.
