Thirty-five second-year AB Communication students of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation joined Media Tour 2026 on April 21, visiting the Philippine Daily Inquirer and GMA Network headquarters to gain real-world exposure to journalism, broadcasting and media production.

Thirteen faculty members accompanied the students during the educational tour, which formed part of COM105 — Broadcasting Principles and Practices, a major course for second-year AB Communication students.

During the tour, students observed the production of live news and entertainment programs. They also visited control rooms, technical booths, newsrooms and engineering areas, where they saw professional broadcast equipment and learned how major media organizations operate.

“The purpose of this trip is to give them a real-world perspective that they just can’t get from a textbook,” Castro said.

“I want them to see the discipline and teamwork required in a professional studio, which I hope will inspire them as they prepare for their own careers in media.” Castro added.

Organizers said the tour aimed to supplement classroom learning by exposing students to actual media environments and industry standards early in their academic training.

Faculty-in-charge Gedelyn Castro led the activity, with Michelle Gapuz serving as student-in-charge.

The activity concluded with a debriefing session where students shared observations and key takeaways from the tour.

The activity reflected the University’s core values of Excellence and Service by giving students meaningful industry exposure that strengthened their professional readiness. It also supported learning by doing and outcomes-oriented education by connecting classroom instruction with actual media practice.

  • SDG 4 – Quality Education: The tour enriched classroom learning through direct exposure to media industry practices.
  • SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth: Industry immersion helped prepare students for future careers in communication and media.
  • SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: Engagement with media institutions supported experiential learning and professional development.
