Leah Salas, acting director of the Office of Quality Improvement and corporate planning and development officer, completed the ASEAN-QA Training on Internal Quality Assurance (TrainIQA) 2025 after joining 28 selected participants from universities across the ASEAN region.
Salas passed a competitive screening process in January and participated in a year-long program designed to strengthen the capabilities of quality assurance practitioners.
The opening conference and Workshop I took place in Bangkok in March, followed by Workshop II in Potsdam and Berlin in August, where participants engaged with international experts and visited German higher education institutions. Workshop III and the closing conference were held in Surabaya in December.
One of the highlights of the program was the ASEAN-QA Forum, which brought together alumni, current participants, and trainers for discussions on shared QA challenges, institutional best practices, and regional collaboration in higher education management.
TrainIQA is part of the DIES Programme (Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies), which supports higher education institutions in developing countries by strengthening management processes and internal quality assurance systems.
The initiative is jointly coordinated by the German Academic Exchange Service and the German Rectors’ Conference, with support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
Salas’ completion of TrainIQA 2025 marks an important milestone for MSEUF as the University continues to refine its QA mechanisms and expand engagement with regional and international networks committed to excellence in higher education.
This achievement reflects the University’s commitment to Excellence, Service, and Unity as it strengthens institutional quality assurance and expands global engagement. It demonstrates Fortitude and Mindfulness by investing in professional development that enhances governance, academic integrity, and outcomes-oriented education.
