Casa Segunda: A Timeless Icon of Lucena’s Heritage Finds a New Home at Enverga University
A century-old cultural treasure has found new meaning and a permanent home at the heart of Enverga University. Casa Segunda, one of Lucena City’s most iconic ancestral houses, now stands within the University Village along Enverga Boulevard—preserved, celebrated, and deeply integrated into the University’s mission of promoting heritage, education, and community pride.
Formerly located at the corner of Tagarao Street and Quezon Avenue, Casa Segunda was a proud witness to Lucena's vibrant past. Its timeless wooden architecture, capiz shell windows, and classic colonial design reflected the stories of generations and the soul of the city. When the decision was made to relocate and restore the structure, Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) stepped in to ensure that the house would not only be protected, but also repurposed in a way that speaks to the University's commitment to cultural preservation and education.
Now reestablished within the University grounds, Casa Segunda serves as a living heritage hub—a place where students, faculty, and visitors can explore the richness of Filipino identity and engage in dialogues about history, art, and nationhood. It functions not just as a historical exhibit, but as a venue for academic enrichment, cultural performances, and community events that uphold the values of mindfulness, service, and excellence.
Through Casa Segunda, Enverga University continues to fulfill its role not just as an institution of higher learning, but as a steward of Filipino heritage—empowering future generations to honor the past while building a more culturally rooted future.
