SHS swimmer leads Nat'l PRISAA '24 swimming events; MSEUF Team collects 10 medals
Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) made a mark in the swimming arena of the National PRISAA Games 2024, held at the Bicol University Olympic -sized swimming pool in Legazpi City, Albay.
Peter Cyrus Dean, representing Region IV-A CALABARZON, led the charge and went seven for seven in his maiden PRISAA campaign and emerged as the most bemedaled athlete. Fresh from his impressive performance in the Palarong Pambansa last July 10, Dean’s achievements in PRISAA further establish his prowess, besting other regional champions from across the country.
On the final day of pool action, Dean topped the boys 13-18 200m individual medley in 2:14.33, finishing well ahead of Region 9 and Region 10. On earlier day, Dean ruled the 200m backstroke in 2:16.84. He then won the 50m distance with a time of 27.58 seconds before helping Region 4A to the 200m freestyle relay gold alongside Eric Jabob Umali, Rara, and Reinelle Jan Trinidad.
On Tuesday, he captured golds in the 100m backstroke, 400m individual medley, and 200m medley relay.
Joining Dean in the pool of champions, Francesca Ysabelle Alterado clinched the gold in the Junior girl’s division 200- meter Butterfly, showcasing her exceptional talent and dedication.
Zajeed Sarmiento added to the medal tally by earning a silver in the same category for the boy’s division, and a bronze medal in the 1500-meter Freestyle.
Coach Virgilio De Luna, along with Director Darios Virrey of the Office of Sports and Cultural Relations (OSCR) and the Vice President for External Relations (VPER) Celso Jaballa, expressed immense pride in these exceptional achievements for MSEUF and Region IV-A CALABARZON.
