ComSci students among top 10 finalists in national AI prompt design challenge

Two third-year BS Computer Science students from Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation, Dave Andrei Capistrano and Kenjie Aeron Delena, placed among the Top 10 finalists out of nearly 100 entries in the student category of the National AI Prompt Design Challenge, announced July 15.

Capistrano and Delena’s entry, ScoutPal, is an interactive AI tool designed to teach users general Boy Scout skills such as first aid, survival techniques, leadership, and discipline.

It uses step-by-step guidance, scenario-based learning, and scout-style conversations to make life skills education accessible, engaging, and personalized.

“We are proud of our students for showcasing the talent, creativity, and technical expertise of Enverga students on the national stage,” said Rodrigo C. Belleza Jr., dean of the College of Computing and Multimedia Studies.

“Their achievement proves that our students are capable of producing innovative solutions that address real-world needs.” Dean Belleza added.

As part of their recognition, the finalists received a free one-year subscription to CAPABARA’s AI tools.

The National AI Prompt Design Challenge, organized by Straits Interactive, CAPABARA, and the Analytics and Artificial Intelligence Association of the Philippines (AAP), began in May 2025 to promote creativity and practical applications of AI prompt engineering. It gathered participants from across the country for an on-the-spot prompt design test followed by a 24-hour challenge at Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna.
