Perceived Self-Efficacy and Academic Performance of College of Arts and Sciences Students During the Resumption of Face-to-face Classes

Abstract

This study determined the self-efficacy and academic performance of students during the resumption of face-to-face classes. Specifically, the major objectives of the study are to examine the relationship between the students' level of self-efficacy and academic performance, to classify the academic performance of the respondents, to assess the perception of CAS students in the resumption of face-to-face classes in terms of mental, emotional and social aspect, to investigate the significant difference in the students' academic performance when grouped according to their demographic profile and to examine the relationship between self-efficacy and perception of the students. This study is a quantitative type of research that used a correlational research design. The participants of this study are the students from the College of Arts and Sciences department at Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation in Lucena City. The researcher used standardized test and self-made questionnaires that was validated by the expert. In collecting the data, the researcher used an online platform such as messenger and google form to conduct the online survey. In organizing and analyzing the gathered data, the researcher will use a different formula in each objective. Based on the results, the study revealed that students from College of Arts and Science have a high self-efficacy. It was also disclosed that respondents have a superior academic performance during the first semester of school year 2022-2023. Furthermore, it was found that there is no relationship between self-efficacy and academic performance of the students.
