Abstract
Currently, the online tutorial intervention in distance learning has increased its
use and application in the teaching and learning processes. This study aimed to
determine the perceived effectiveness of online tutorial videos in teaching and
learning algebra among grade 9 students and teachers. The research design that the
researcher used in this study is the quantitative research design which emphasizes
the objective measurements and numerical analysis of data gathered. Purposive
sampling is the instrument used in collecting the data conducted on one of the
schools in the district of Lucena. Respondents were 70 grade 9 students and 9
teachers who are presently teaching algebra. The data-gathering process was
conducted with the use of a Google form that contains the questions that the
respondents answered.
Furthermore, three research questions are formulated to examine the
effectiveness of online tutorial videos specifically, the perceptions, perceived
effectiveness, and challenges encountered by the teachers and students. This study
compares the responses between the two groups using a t-test, this statistical test is used to analyze the difference between the means of these two groups. Results
indicated the perceived effectiveness, perceptions, and challenges encountered by
both respondents. However, there was no significant difference between the
responses of the two groups.
