Bachelor of Science in

Nursing

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program consists of general education and professional courses. Professional courses are threaded with emphasis on the nursing concepts with corresponding Related Learning Experiences (RLE). The BSN program also provided extensive nursing practicum that will refine nursing competencies.

Program Educational Objectives

The following are the Program Educational Objectives of the BSN program:

  • Program Outcomes
    • Apply knowledge in physical, social, natural, and health sciences, and humanities in the practice of nursing;
    • Provide safe, appropriate, and holistic care to individuals, families, population groups, and communities utilizing the nursing process;
    • Apply guidelines and principles or evidence-based practice in the delivery of care;
    • Practice nursing in accordance with existing laws, legal, ethical, and moral principles;
    • Communicate effectively in speaking, writing, and presenting using culturally appropriate language;
    • Document to include reporting up-to-date client care accurately and comprehensively;
    • Work effectively in collaboration with inter-, intra- and multi-disciplinary and multicultural teams;

    Entry Level:

    • Staff Nurse (Hospital or Clinic): Provide direct patient care, administer medications, and assist with medical procedures. Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure patient well-being.
    • Public Health Nurse: Work in community settings to promote health and prevent illness. Conduct health assessments, vaccinations, and health education programs.
    • Nursing Home Nurse: Provide care for residents in long-term care facilities. Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
    • Registered Nurse (RN): Provide direct patient care in hospitals, clinics, or other healthcare settings. Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and collaborate with healthcare teams.

    • Nurse Educator: Teach nursing students in academic settings or provide training in healthcare institutions. Develop curriculum, assess student progress, and facilitate clinical experiences.
    • Case Manager (Nursing): Coordinate patient care across different healthcare settings. Advocate for patients and ensure they receive appropriate care and resources.
    • Clinical Research Nurse: Contribute to research studies and clinical trials. Coordinate research activities, collect data, and ensure ethical standards are met.

    Senior Level:

    • Nurse Manager: Oversee a nursing unit or department within a healthcare facility. Manage staffing, budgets, and ensure high-quality patient care.
    • Director of Nursing: Lead the nursing department within a healthcare organization. Develop policies, oversee nursing staff, and collaborate with other departments.
    • Clinical Nurse Leader: Provide leadership in clinical practice and healthcare management. Improve patient outcomes through evidence-based practice and quality improvement.
    • Nurse Practitioner: Assess, diagnose, and treat patients in various healthcare settings. Prescribe medications, order tests, and provide primary care services.
    • Nurse Anesthetist: Administer anesthesia and monitor patients during surgical procedures. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.

    Managerial/Executive Level:
