MSEUF reiterates implementation of smoke-free policy to promote healthier campus

Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) enforces a strict smoke-free policy to create a healthier environment for students, staff, and visitors. The policy, which has been in effect since 1995, prohibits smoking within all university premises, including outdoor areas.

To support compliance, the University offers smoking cessation programs for students and employees who want to quit. Additionally, signs promoting a smoke-free campus are displayed prominently to encourage adherence to the policy.

The decision to implement the policy comes after extensive consultations with the Health and Safety Office, Medical and Dental Services, students, faculty and employees. The administration highlighted the importance of providing a smoke-free environment aligned with the national public health goals and the university's commitment to student wellness.

Under the new policy, smoking is strictly prohibited in the campus, including buildings, outdoor areas and parking lots to avoid accidental throwing of cigarette butts that may cause brush/bush fire.

The University has also launched a campaign to educate the community about the risks associated with smoking and the benefits of quitting. Seminars, informational materials, and support services are available to assist those seeking to reduce or eliminate their tobacco use.

The implementation of the no smoking policy in the University reflects a growing trend among educational institutions not only in the Philippines but also to other countries to create healthier learning environments.
