Enverga University champions SDG initiatives through strategic collaborations

Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) continues to uphold the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through strategic partnerships, research initiatives, and policy contributions. Collaborating with government agencies, NGOs, and international academic institutions, MSEUF plays a crucial role in promoting policies and practices that drive sustainable development.

Relationships with Regional NGOs and Government for SDG Policy

MSEUF actively collaborates with local and national government agencies, including the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the City Government of Lucena. on August 10, 2023, MSEUF’s Job Placement Office (JPO) gained official DOLE accreditation, witnessed by Lucena City Mayor Mark Alcala. This accreditation grants MSEUF students access to employment support programs such as the Special Program for Employment of Students and the Government Internship Program, emphasizing SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). By connecting students with local employment opportunities, this partnership empowers the youth with essential skills for their careers, supporting local and national economic growth.

Cross-Sectoral Dialogue about SDGs

To foster discussions on sustainable development, Manuel S. This event facilitated an exchange of ideas centered on job placement, internships, and community extension programs, reinforcing partnerships that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). MSEUF representatives engaged with partners, highlighting the significance of collaboration for quality education and employment opportunities, which sparked constructive dialogue on best practices and strategies for community development and student engagement.

International Collaboration and Data Gathering for SDGs

MSEUF has actively participated in global data-gathering initiatives for the SDGs by attending the Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (CRS), Governance, and Communication Orientation Seminar at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) on July 24-25, 2023. This seminar provided a platform for educators, professionals, and industry experts to discuss the pivotal role of sustainability and responsible business practices in education.

The insights gained from this seminar contribute to MSEUF’s commitment to fostering sustainable development and responsible education practices within its academic community. Furthermore, the discussions regarding a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for student and faculty exchange programs and research collaboration with UTAR underline MSEUF’s dedication to advancing the United Nations’ sustainable development agenda through meaningful partnerships.

MSEUF representatives, including Celso D. Jaballa, Vice President for External Relations, and other esteemed administrators, engaged in interactive lectures led by distinguished experts in the fields of CRS, environmental conservation, and governance. These sessions enhanced their understanding of contemporary issues related to sustainability and effective communication strategies, reinforcing the importance of integrating these principles into the academic curriculum.

Collaboration for SDG Best Practices

Through its international partnerships, MSEUF actively explores best practices for achieving SDG goals. Recently, on November 22, 2023, MSEUF’s College of International Hospitality and Tourism Management (CIHTM) benchmarked with Chung Hua University in Taiwan, focusing on sustainable tourism practices and events management. The visit facilitated meaningful exchanges between faculty and students, centered around best practices aligned with SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Through these collaborative insights, MSEUF not only strengthens its curriculum but also contributes to global discussions on sustainability.

Additionally, the Honor Society of Lambda Kappa Phi (HSLKP) Alumni contributed PHP 100,000 to MSEUF’s scholarship program, supporting the education of active HSLKP members. These initiatives embody MSEUF’s commitment to SDG 4 (Quality Education), enabling students from diverse backgrounds to pursue quality education and skills development.
