MSEUF offers education and capacity-building to policymakers
Through these targeted initiatives, MSEUF reaffirms its role as a leading institution in community education and capacity-building. By addressing key issues such as legal processes, emergency response, and values formation, MSEUF supports the growth and empowerment of local policy-makers and community members, fostering a more informed, resilient, and ethically grounded society.
Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF), through its College of Criminal Justice and Criminology (CCJC), is dedicated to advancing knowledge and practical skills for local policymakers, law enforcers, and community members. These initiatives are part of the university's ongoing outreach and community extension services, focusing on strengthening legal understanding, emergency response skills, and values education.
One of these impactful programs was a seminar on the Katarungang Pambarangay Law, conducted on February 7, 2023, in partnership with Barangay Dalahican, Lucena City. This session targeted Lupon members responsible for mediating local disputes, aiming to refresh and deepen their understanding of the Katarungang Pambarangay Law as outlined in Republic Act No. 7160, the Local Government Code. Prof. Dennis Albert N. Gonzales, CCJC Community Extension Service Adviser, led the seminar, emphasizing the legal framework that guides local governance and community peacekeeping. The seminar engaged Lupon members in practical exercises, enhancing their capacity to resolve disputes effectively and contributing to a stronger, more harmonious community.
In addition to legal education, the university's commitment to community resilience was demonstrated through a First Aid Training session held on July 3, 2023. This training, conducted for barangay tanods of Barangay Dalahican, was led by Alfonso Villamayor from the Tayabas Ranger Rescue Team. The program aimed to prepare barangay tanods with essential first aid skills, equipping them to respond swiftly in emergencies. This training not only fortified the tanods’ preparedness but also reinforced the partnership between MSEUF and local agencies in building a responsive and resilient community.
MSEUF also prioritizes values education and youth awareness programs. On November 25, 2023, the university conducted a Drug Awareness and Values Education seminar for selected students at Barra Elementary School in Brgy. Barra, Lucena City. This event, organized in cooperation with the Quezon Provincial Police Office’s Provincial Community Affairs and Development Unit and the School Parents—Teacher Association, highlighted the university’s dedication to proactive youth engagement. Students received education on the adverse effects of drugs from PSMS Erick Estellar and were guided on the significance of good manners and right conduct by PCPL Joy Remoroza. The program underscored the importance of instilling positive values in young minds, equipping students to make informed and ethical decisions in their lives.
