Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation strengthened climate-related disaster preparedness and institutional risk management in Lucena City throughout 2025 through preventive measures against severe weather, emergency-response capacity building, and collaboration with local government disaster risk reduction authorities.
Through its Sustainability Department and Health, Safety and Auxiliary Services Department (HSASD), alongside other University offices and emergency-response personnel, MSEUF implemented activities aimed at identifying hazards, reducing vulnerabilities, and improving emergency readiness.
Climate-related risk preparedness and preventive monitoring
On Nov. 8, 2025, Enverga University implemented campus-wide precautionary measures in anticipation of Typhoon Uwan under the direction of Vice President for Administration Atty. Dario Opistan.
University personnel cleared canals and drainage systems, inspected buildings, secured campus structures, and conducted other preventive activities to reduce potential risks associated with the approaching typhoon.
The measures aimed to minimize possible flooding, protect campus facilities, and maintain preparedness for severe weather disruptions.
These activities demonstrated the University's efforts to identify physical vulnerabilities and implement preventive action ahead of a climate-related weather hazard.

Collaboration with local government disaster risk reduction authorities
MSEUF strengthened its coordination with the Lucena City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LCDRRMO) through institutional preparedness and emergency-response initiatives.
From March 10 to 12, 2025, the University's Health and Safety Office partnered with LCDRRMO to conduct Standard First Aid and Basic Life Support Training at the Library Seminar Hall and EMRC Main.
The training equipped faculty members and staff, including student organization advisers, National Service Training Program advisers, and laboratory personnel, with practical skills in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and emergency response.

Institutional disaster-risk monitoring and continuous improvement
MSEUF also implemented disaster preparedness exercises through its "Basta Envergan, Ligtas sa Kapahamakan" program.
On March 13, 2025, the Health and Safety Office collaborated with the Occupational Safety and Health Committee, University Disaster Emergency Response Team, and LCDRRMO to conduct the first-quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill.
The activity strengthened stakeholder awareness of proper emergency procedures and coordinated disaster response.
On Sept. 11, HSASD, in partnership with the Occupational Safety and Health Committee and University Disaster Emergency Response Team, conducted the third-quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill.
Faculty members, employees, students, and outsourced personnel participated in the exercise, which emphasized evacuation and emergency-response procedures.
Following the September drill, the Health and Safety Unit convened a post-evaluation meeting to address observed concerns and improve subsequent preparedness activities.
Although these earthquake exercises did not directly address climate-related hazards, they provided evidence of the University's established emergency-response structure, internal evaluation practices, and disaster preparedness capacity.
