Enverga University enhances transportation services to support student mobility and educational access

SDGSDG 1: No Poverty

Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) strengthened its transportation services in 2025 through scheduled shuttle operations, a pilot transportation initiative, and improvements to its university vehicles. These efforts aimed to improve mobility, passenger safety, and access to transportation for students and other members of the university community.

Through its Health, Safety, and Auxiliary Services Department, the University implemented transportation initiatives designed to address campus mobility needs and provide organized travel options between designated locations.

University shuttle bus services

MSEUF maintains scheduled shuttle services to assist members of the university community with their transportation needs.

According to the University's published transportation arrangements, shuttle services operate during designated morning, afternoon, and evening periods, subject to operational requirements and driver availability.

On Oct. 7, 2025, the MSEUF Sustainability Department announced a shuttle bus pilot operation serving passengers traveling from the Nursing Building to the Watsons Bayan area in Lucena City.

The service was scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m., with a fare of PHP 10 per ride.

The pilot initiative aimed to assess the efficiency of transportation routes, operating schedules, and the overall passenger experience. The University also indicated that it could adjust the service based on feedback and identified transportation needs.

The initiative provided an additional scheduled transportation option for members of the university community during evening hours.

Improving passenger safety through vehicle rehabilitation

In September 2025, MSEUF also announced the rehabilitation of its Daewoo university bus.

The rehabilitation included improvements to the vehicle's exterior and interior, with a redesigned appearance inspired by the University's existing Volvo bus.

The bus was also equipped with interior closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras to strengthen passenger safety and security.

These improvements reflected the University's efforts to maintain its transportation resources and improve the travel experience of passengers using university vehicles.

Supporting students' access to education

Reliable transportation can play an important role in students' ability to attend classes, access campus services, and participate in academic activities.

Through its scheduled shuttle services and transportation improvements, MSEUF demonstrated its commitment to addressing mobility concerns and providing additional travel options for the university community.

The PHP 10 fare announced for the October 2025 shuttle pilot established an identifiable transportation cost for passengers. However, the available documentation does not specify whether the fare was subsidized or whether additional assistance was provided to students from low-income families.

Contribution to SDG 1: No Poverty

MSEUF's transportation initiatives relate to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 1: No Poverty, which recognizes the importance of access to resources and essential services in addressing socioeconomic barriers.

Under Indicator 1.3.3 of the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings, universities are assessed on their provision of support, including transportation, food, housing, and legal services, to help students from low-income families complete their university education.

The University's documented shuttle services establish the availability of transportation assistance for the campus community. To demonstrate direct alignment with Indicator 1.3.3, additional documentation is needed to establish whether financially disadvantaged students received free or subsidized transportation support intended to help them continue their studies.

Through these initiatives, MSEUF continues to uphold its institutional values of Mindfulness, Service, and Excellence by promoting transportation accessibility, passenger safety, and a supportive educational environment.
