Enverga University strengthens student transportation services to support safe and accessible education
Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) continues to improve its transportation services to support the mobility, safety, and accessibility needs of the university community. Through scheduled shuttle operations, vehicle rehabilitation, and service assessments, the University provides transportation options that help students and other members of the campus community travel between designated locations.
These initiatives reflect MSEUF's commitment to maintaining a supportive learning environment and addressing transportation concerns that may affect students' daily access to campus facilities and educational activities.
Providing accessible transportation services
MSEUF maintains a university transportation service with scheduled shuttle operations during weekdays. According to the University's published transportation information, morning shuttle schedules include 7–7:15 a.m. and 7:30–7:45 a.m., while afternoon and evening services operate during designated periods.
The University also provides arrangements for transportation services through its School Transportation Coordinator, subject to operational requirements and driver availability.
On Oct. 7, 2025, the MSEUF Sustainability Department announced a shuttle bus pilot operation coordinated through the University's Health, Safety, and Auxiliary Services Department.
The service offered transportation from the Nursing Building to the Watsons Bayan area in Lucena City between 6 and 8 p.m., with a fare of PHP 10 per ride.
The pilot initiative aimed to assess route efficiency, service schedules, and passengers' overall transportation experience. The announcement also identified the possibility of adjusting operations based on feedback and emerging transportation needs.
By providing a designated transportation option during evening hours, the initiative sought to improve mobility and offer an organized travel alternative for members of the university community.
Improving transportation safety through vehicle rehabilitation
In September 2025, the MSEUF Sustainability Department also documented the rehabilitation of the University's Daewoo bus.
The vehicle underwent exterior and interior improvements, including a redesigned appearance inspired by the University's existing Volvo bus. The rehabilitation also included the installation of interior closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras to improve passenger safety and security.
The rehabilitated vehicle formed part of the University's efforts to maintain its transportation facilities and improve the passenger experience.
These improvements complemented MSEUF's transportation operations by strengthening the facilities and safety features available to the university community.
Supporting student mobility and educational access
Transportation is an important consideration in students' ability to attend classes and participate in university activities. Organized transportation services can help address mobility concerns, particularly for students who depend on public or shared transportation when traveling to and from campus.
Through its scheduled services and shuttle pilot initiative, MSEUF demonstrated efforts to provide transportation options and assess their responsiveness to the needs of the university community.
The PHP 10 shuttle fare documented in the October 2025 announcement establishes the cost charged to passengers during the pilot operation. However, the available documentation does not establish whether the fare was subsidized or whether students from low-income families received additional transportation assistance.
Contribution to SDG 1: No Poverty
MSEUF's transportation initiatives relate to the broader objectives of United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 1: No Poverty, particularly the importance of access to essential support services that can help students overcome barriers to pursuing higher education.
Under Indicator 1.3.3 of the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings, universities are assessed on their provision of support, including transportation assistance, to students from low-income families to help them complete their university education.
MSEUF's documented shuttle operations demonstrate the availability of transportation services within the university community. However, confirmation of targeted assistance to financially disadvantaged students is necessary to establish direct compliance with this indicator.
Through its continuing efforts to improve transportation availability, operational efficiency, and passenger safety, MSEUF advances its institutional values of Mindfulness, Service, and Excellence while supporting a campus environment that responds to students' educational and mobility needs.
