Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation actively promoted student mental health in 2025 through awareness seminars, creative workshops and peer facilitator training led by the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) and its Guidance and Counseling Office.
Promoting awareness and emotional well-being
OSAS held its World Mental Health Month celebration from Oct. 28 to 30, providing students with opportunities to learn about mental health and express their emotions through creative activities.
Registered psychologist and psychometrician Karen Anne Quing discussed early signs of stress, personal triggers, grounding techniques and healthy coping strategies. She emphasized self-care, supportive relationships and seeking professional help when needed.
Registered guidance counselor Aira Riza Abad facilitated art workshops that encouraged self-expression and reflection. Students illustrated their inner and outer selves and created visual representations of a safe place.

Developing peer support skills
On Nov. 19, the Guidance and Counseling Office conducted “I.C.A.R.E.: Peer First Aid—Mental Health Basics for Student Mediators” for student representatives from six colleges.
Registered guidance counselor and psychometrician Zedric Lorzano introduced Psychological First Aid, emphasizing empathetic listening, encouragement and recognizing when to refer peers to professionals. Participants also explored the WHO-5 Well-Being Index as a tool for reflecting on their emotional well-being.
The training encouraged students to seek assistance from the Guidance and Counseling Office and prepared peer facilitators to offer initial emotional support within appropriate limits.
Together, these initiatives supported Sustainable Development Goal 3, Good Health and Well-Being, through mental health education, guided activities and stronger pathways to professional support.
