MSEUF reinforces anti-harassment rules and ethical labor policy

Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) advanced its commitment to decent work by publishing a Modern Slavery Policy, reinforcing anti-harassment protections, and holding its annual merit pay deliberation—concrete actions that operationalized SDG 8 on employment policy against forced labor, trafficking, and child labor.

On the policy front, MSEUF released its Modern Slavery Policy, declaring a public, zero-tolerance stance on modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labor, and child labor across employment, procurement, and vendor relationships. The policy sets supplier compliance requirements, calls for monitoring and audits, mandates training and awareness, and outlines confidential reporting and disciplinary measures for violations.

To ensure a safe environment for employees and students, the Human Resource Department reiterated MSEUF’s anti-harassment policy aligned with the Safe Spaces Act and detailed clear reporting channels through the GAD Technical Committee, HRD, and OSAS, with confidentiality assurances. As HRD Director Dr. Maria Sylvia Avila emphasized, “Ensuring a harassment-free workplace contributes to the productivity, well-being, and job satisfaction of our employees.”

Complementing these safeguards, MSEUF conducted its annual merit pay deliberation for non-teaching personnel on Sept. 4, 2024, via Zoom, led by Dr. Benilda Villenas (OIC, Office of the President) with Ms. Amalia Delos Reyes (OIC, VP for Administration) and Ms. Sonia Durante (Union Sector). Department heads reviewed performance evaluations in advance, and HRD Director Dr. Maria Sylvia Avila presented allocations based on objective ratings—strengthening transparent, fair compensation governance.

Together, these actions—ethical labor policy, anti-harassment enforcement, and transparent pay processes—demonstrate a whole-of-institution approach to preventing exploitation, protecting rights, and promoting dignity at work in line with SDG 8.

MSEUF’s stance reflects its values of Mindfulness, Service, Excellence, Unity, and Fortitude. By codifying ethical labor standards, protecting community members from harassment, and rewarding performance through clear processes, the university fosters transformative, student and staff centered workplaces where dignity and fairness are non-negotiable.
